My granddad’s name was Jorge Calixto Misle. White folks in North Carolina in 1950 couldn’t say “Jorge” so he changed it to “George” after he moved here. I am not going to try to tell his story because its long and its crazy. But he was born in Quito, Ecuador and came here in the late 1940’s with something like eight bucks. He had 6 kids one of which is my mother. He is the reason I speak Spanish, love sports and love spicy food. Only a few people have had as much influence on my life as Papa did. Anyway, I just found this picture on my laptop and thought I would share.
A shout out to Jorge! Hola, mi amigo.
great photo of him.
Haha…I’ve seen you give that exact look countless times!
