Week two in our series on Luke 12 called American Dreams. This week we focused on one main thing: Fear. It’s fear and ultimately a lack of trust that keeps us from truly following God. The way we order our lives and priorities either shows that we really do believe that God will provide or that we don’t.
God calls us to turn our priorities completely upside down; completely backwards from the priorities of the world. He calls us to seek first His Kingdom and not worry about what we need. That’s pretty radically different than what the world tells us.
Jeff really challenged us. Are we seeking His kingdom? If so, how intensely are we seeking it? Are we willing to lose everything for it? Are we willing to give up our desires to have it? Our prayer is that Visio Dei, as a community, would be one that holds all things in common and truly seeks first the kingdom of God.
Set list for the week was:
Spring of Life – Stanfill
Hosanna in the Highest – Hillsong
You Provide – Visio Dei
You Never Let Go – Matt Redman
The band for the week was:
Alex Dellapenta – guitar + vox
John Enzor – bass
Zack Van Hoy – drums
Rebecca Schlieman – vox
Patrick Downing – guitar + vox
Quick point: I love Sundays where two or three different people lead songs. Things feel more corporate that way. It’s important for the folks on stage and the folks not on stage to remember that we are one body and we are just singing together; there’s no performance going on and no one person is running the show. 🙂
