This week we stepped out of our series in the book of Proverbs to call attention to International Orphan Sunday.
Using Isaiah 1:17, Chris Marlow from Help One Now delivered a message entitled Gospel Justice: How the church can engage the global orphan crisis, human trafficking and extreme poverty. In short, the local church must be front and center as seekers and pursuers of Justice. The world needs to see us living like Jesus, sacrificing for humanity and loving the orphan, widow, alien and oppressed.
Here is part of the catch, we don’t do these things ultimately for the sake of humanity! We do them for God; for his glory and in obedience to His word. Seeking justice for orphans, the poor and the oppressed should not be seen as something that we HAVE to do, but something that we GET to do.
